This 2026 Lake Nakuru day trip is perfect for guests staying in Nakuru City who would like an enriching wildlife experience without long travel distances. The safari starts with an early pick-up between 6:00 AM – 6:30 AM, allowing entry into the park during the most active wildlife hours.
Travelling in a 4WD safari van, safari jeep, or Land Cruiser, you will enjoy guided game drives through the park before returning to Nakuru the same day. Guests can choose between a full-day or half-day safari depending on their schedule and preference.
Option 1: Full-Day Lake Nakuru Safari (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
Itinerary
Pick-up will be from your hotel or residence within Nakuru City between 6:00 AM – 6:30 AM, followed by a short transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park.
Upon entry, begin an extensive game drive along the lakeshore, through the woodland, and across the open savannah plains. The park is famous for its black and white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffaloes, waterbucks, zebras, and abundant birdlife including flamingos and pelicans. Lions are often seen resting in acacia trees or near the lake.
At midday, enjoy a stop at a scenic picnic site near Makalia Falls, where you can have your packed lunch (own arrangements) while taking in views of the waterfall and surrounding forest.
After lunch, continue with an afternoon game drive exploring additional areas of the park before exiting in the late afternoon.
Return to Nakuru City at approximately 6:00 PM.
Option 2: Half-Day Lake Nakuru Safari
Timings: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Itinerary
You may choose either an early morning pick-up between 6:00 AM – 6:30 AM or an afternoon pick-up at 12:00 PM, followed by a short drive to the park.
